The Lifesaving Society is an nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote safe interactions with water to prevent drowning and other injuries.
The Quebec branch of the Lifesaving Society, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2009, is primarily known for its lifesaving and first aid training programs as well as the National Drowning Prevention Week. Part of its mission is to educate and sensitize the public. Prevention is the key to successfully reducing the number of drowning fatalities.
